Amy Beth Wright
(b. 1982 Little Rock) received her MFA in painting from the University of Houston in 2014 and her BFA in painting from Savannah College of Art & Design in 2004. Shortly after, she attended artist residencies at Cooper Union in New York City and Painting’s Edge in Idyllwild. For the past twelve years, Amy has lived and worked in the art community of Houston, exhibiting her work regularly at a variety of locations including the Blaffer Museum, nonprofits DiverseWorks, Lawndale Art Center, and Art League, the Riverside Art Museum in California, and the Chatauqua Institution in New York. A part of private and public collections throughout the United States, Amy’s work can also be seen in the textbook Discovering Drawing by Davis Publications and New American Paintings 2015 MFA Annual.
Amy’s paintings are currently centered around her extended families’ lives as creatives starting with her great-grandparents from the Great Depression. Her first three room solo exhibition opens in Texas the Spring of 2018.
